I thought as times are hard at the moment, I would share with you what my top five affordable makeup must-haves are for May 2020, if you have any questions about any of the products mentioned, leave me a lovely little comment in the comments section below. Enjoy! :)
Beauty Bay Origin Palette - £25.00
I have been using this palette for a while now and I absolutely love it. There are 42 shades, which are all so versatile and wearable. The palette contains a mixture of metallics, different nude transition shades and also several dark smokey shades. So you can create so many different looks for any occasion with just this palette alone. Mad! To top it off all of the shadows are super pigmented and very blendable, which is insane considering its only £25. I would, however, suggest applying a base, like the Plouise base I spoke about in my April Favourites post to pack on the metallic shadows as this will really make them pop. But £25 for such a big palette that works so well...Now that's a bargain!
The Ordinary Serum Foundation - £5.75
If you love a dewy, semi-matte, medium coverage foundation, then this is definitely worth trying. It lasts on my skin all day (around 14 hours) and doesn't go patchy around my nose, which is the area I find that foundation always comes off of first. When I first bought it, I found that it was quite a wet consistency, which I really wasn't used to as I tend to find higher coverage foundations are usually a lot thicker. But I soon found that it was better applied by building it in layers with a dense brush or beauty blender to get a flawless finish. There are 21 shades ranging from very fair to very deep and they even do in-between shades to suit your undertone. It even contains an SPF 15, which is insane for the price point! If you are looking for an affordable foundation definitely give this one a try!
Makeup Revolution Duo Brow Pencil - £2.95
I am that girl who hates having no brows and I seem to go through brow products so quickly because of it. So I am always on the lookout for a new one to try that doesn't break the bank. I decided to quickly grab this one as I realised I had forgotten my brow pencil when I was at the airport. Typical me! But.... thank god I did. It's really long-lasting and shaped so that you can easily create individual hair strokes with it for a thicker looking brow. They also do an ultra-fine shaped pencil too, so you can create thinner hair strokes if you prefer a more natural-looking brow. There is also a really handy spoolie on the other end, so you can blend out the product to your desired look. I found that it literally works the same if not better than a lot of high-end brow pencils and for more than half the price! The only downside is that they only do 3 different shades, so it may not suit everybody's hair colour. But for under £3 I think we can allow it!
Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara - £8.99
I was in need of a new waterproof mascara for my brides and another one for myself, but I didn't want to spend lots of money on it as I tend to use a non-waterproof formula for most of my clients, except brides. Then I found this little gem and it was amazing! The formula is super black and silky, which made my lashes look super long and thick. The wand really gave my lashes a great lift but they didn't go clumpy, not to mention, it lasts all day with no smudging whatsoever. I also found that this mascara definitely needs an oil-based makeup remover or cleanser to take it off with, because of it being waterproof. If you aren't a fan of waterproof mascara, they also do it in a normal formula which is equally as good and easier to remove. Overall, this is a great mascara for an affordable price.
NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner - £4.00
I am not a massive lipstick/liner person as I find that my lips dry out so easily from lip products. However, I bought these to try in my kit as I wanted a wider range of colours to use and they are so nice! The rich creamy formula glides on the lips like butter and sets to such a nice suede matte effect without drying out your lips; making it super easy to line clients lips with. They are super pigmented and the durability is amazing. I loved using them so much on clients that I bought myself a couple for my own use. I wore the shade 'Cannes' to friends meal recently and I didn't need to reapply at all, which was amazing. There are so many nice wearable colours to choose from and they sharpen up like a dream. The only downside is that they don't come with a sharpener, but for the price, it's definitely worth trying.
